good mourning

August 20, 2021 in Poetry, Art, Reflection

new beginning’s greeting

birthed from decay

-identities last breath-

friendships death stench

prompts silent removal

of corpses white,

buried bones.

to say goodbye

a broken rib

each inhalation

painful reminder

blissful lies burned

in present fires,

yesterday’s love

feeding hate today

the only relief

mourning brings

is weight lifted

from my soul
